Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi held a bilateral meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on the sidelines of the High-level Week of the 79th UN General Assembly Session in New York, United States, on Friday, 27 September 2024.

The meeting was preceded by the signing of the Diplomatic and Service Visa Free Agreement (PBVDD) between Indonesia and Azerbaijan by the two foreign ministers.

“I am confident that this agreement will strengthen diplomatic relations and facilitate closer cooperation between the two countries, thus opening up wider collaboration opportunities in the future,” Retno said, as stated in a press release from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, 28 September 2024.

On that occasion, Foreign Minister Bayramov emphasised the importance of Indonesia as a strategic partner for Azerbaijan and expressed his desire to deepen bilateral cooperation to a higher level.

Both foreign ministers agreed to expand collaboration in various international cooperation forums. Foreign Minister Retno also expressed Indonesia’s support for Azerbaijan which will host the United Nations Climate Change Conference this year.

Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Azerbaijan have long been established, and they have a good history of cooperation. Both are active members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and continue to contribute to various global issues.

At the end of the meeting, Foreign Minister Retno expressed her hope that relations between the two countries will continue to improve and provide benefits to the people of Indonesia and Azerbaijan.

About Service Visa and Diplomatic Visa Indonesia

In Indonesia, both “Visa Diplomatik” and “Visa Dinas” are official travel documents issued to foreign nationals who need to enter the country for specific purposes.

A diplomatic Visa (Visa Diplomatik)  is granted to foreign nationals holding diplomatic passports who are entering Indonesia to perform diplomatic duties. It allows them to stay in Indonesia for the duration of their diplomatic assignment.

Meanwhile, a Service Visa (Visa Dinas) is issued to foreign nationals with service passports or other travel documents who are entering Indonesia to carry out official duties that are not diplomatic in nature. This could include government officials, representatives of international organisations, or individuals on official business.
