July 29, 2022 – Indonesia recorded 6,353 Covid-19 positive cases on Thursday (28/7). Among those, 3,157 cases are from Jakarta.
This amount is from tracing results of 122,229 specimens through the real-time polymerase reaction method (PCR) and molecular rapid test (TCM).
In total, there have been 6,191,664 Covid-19 cases in Indonesia. The patient recovery was recorded at 5,705 people yesterday. Thus, there are 5,988,052 patients that have recovered from Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the number of deaths increased to 17 people. Since the pandemic started in March 2020, there has been 156,957 people died from Covid-19.
Based on the data from the official covid19.go.id, Jakarta is in the first spot with 3,157 positive cases in Jakarta. Second is West Java with 1,183 cases and third, is Banten with 745 cases.
Government Spokesperson for Handling Covid-19 Wiku Adisasmito said that the number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia has set a new record in the past few days.
“As of July 27, 2022, the number of positive cases has reached 6,000 cases. The last time we reached this number on a daily basis is on March 2022,” said Wiku during a virtual Press Conference on Thursday (28/7).
Mandatory Second Booster Shot by the Government
The Health Ministry has officially released a new rule regarding the Covid-19 second booster or fourth vaccine. Starting today (29/7), all health workers can now receive their second booster shot or fourth vaccine dose.
This new law is written in circular letter Number HK.02.02/C/3615/2022 concerning the Second Booster Dose of Covid-19 Vaccination for Health Resources.
“Starting July 29, 2022, the second booster dose for Covid-19 vaccination can start for health workers,” it stated.
The fourth or second booster dose of Covid-19 vaccination will be given at intervals of six months from the first booster dose vaccination. Everyone can receive their booster vaccination at health service facilities or Covid-19 vaccination posts.
The types of vaccine used for the second booster vaccine have obtained Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), and are subject to availability.
