Bali Airport Implements Monkeypox Screening Procedures

Share:

August 9, 2022 – The screening procedures at Bali Airport have been put in place to lessen the spread of monkeypox. Although there are no monkeypox cases spotted in Bali, authorities are eager to take preventative measures by having monkeypox screening procedures to stop any possible spread as cases slowly rise around the world.

Dr. I Nyoman Gede Anom, the director of the Bali Provincial Health Office, acknowledged that on August 6, 2022, his teams cooperated with the Denpasar Class I Port Health Office and I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

A consensus was reached during the meeting regarding the significance of heightened screening procedures. As a result, screening technologies have been installed to look for any potential instances of monkeypox that may be arriving in Bali. This stepped-up safety precaution includes temperature-screening cameras, which may spot any rise in body temperature as travellers pass through the airport.

The Denpasar Class I KKP and all airlines have collaborated with I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport’s general manager, Handy Heryudhitiawan, and his teams to prevent the spread of the monkeypox virus.

Heryudhitiawan clarified that his teams are assisting facilities to stop the spread of these diseases, including installing thermal scanners at the entrances for arrivals and departures and installing antibacterial carpeting at each entrance and exit of the passenger area.

The new screening procedures barely affect how people go through Bali Airport. Heryudhitiawan reaffirmed that these preventive procedures are in place and that there are no particular guidelines or cautions regarding monkeypox.

Monkeypox Around the World

After a number of cases were discovered in nations where the disease is not commonly found, airports all around the world boosted their scrutiny of suspected monkeypox cases.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), close contact with respiratory secretions (breath and saliva) as well as close touch with the infected skin lesions and blisters caused by the virus can spread monkeypox from human to human.
