29th August 2022 – The Government requires a mandatory Booster vaccine for domestic travel by 30th August. This rule applies to travellers who are 18 and above. Through this requirement, all passengers for airplanes and long-distance trains must already have received the booster shot (third or fourth dose).
The Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Eva Chairunisa, said that travellers departing from Gambir Station, Pasar Senen, Jakarta Kota, Bekasi, Cikarang, Karawang, and Cikampek must have received the booster shot.
This new provision is regulated in the Circular Letter (SE) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Number 82 of 2022 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Domestic Travel by Air Transportation during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Furthermore, foreign travellers who travel overseas aged 18 years old or over must have received a second dose of the vaccine.
Travellers aged 6 to 17 years old are required to get the second dose of the vaccine. Foreign travellers aged 6 to 17 are exempted from this obligation.
The Circular Letter also specified that travellers who have received the second dose or booster shot do not have to show a negative RT-PCR or rapid test antigen result. They are allowed to travel within the country while still implementing strict health protocols.
Travellers with special health conditions or comorbid diseases that prevent them from receiving vaccine shot are exempted from this obligation. This obligation is also excluded for domestic travellers (PPDN) including flights in smaller areas, and 3T (Leading, Remote, and Left Behind) areas.
As of this day (29/8), PPKM for Java-Bali regions has ended. The PPKM Level 1 has been in motion since 16th August 2022. Meanwhile, PPKM for regions out of Java-Bali is still ongoing from 2nd August to 5th September later on.
The Government claims that the decision for PPKM Level 1 for Java-Bali resulted from considerations of experts by taking into account the current conditions in the field.
