Sandiaga Uno Promotes Bali with Australia’s Damian Hoo

1st September 2022 – In collaboration with an Australian content creator, Damian Hoo, Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy promotes Bali ecotourism. They both make appearances in a few videos performing a skit that alludes to Bali’s “The Cow Poo” problem. Both Indonesians and Australians found the content to be highly entertaining.

Previously, Pauline Hanson, an Australian senator, said that Bali’s streets are covered with cow dung because the cows walk the island freely and urinate there. However, this claim is false and far from the truth. Hoo did not waste the time jumping into the water to create content mocking this issue. After watching his video, Sandiaga Uno got in touch with Hoo to form a relationship to promote Indonesian tourism. Uno stated in one of his videos that he wants to inform more foreign viewers that Bali is more than just beaches.

Furthermore, he refers to Bali’s ecotourism and mentions that North and West Bali should be the new hype. He makes reference to the possibilities for peacefulness, spirituality, and sustainable tourism, all of which are rarely highlighted. The video was recorded at Buleleng’s OmUnity Hotel, which adheres to strict environmental standards. According to some, this hotel symbolizes what Uno hopes more people would notice and support in its expansion.

The Tourism Minister praises Hoo’s marketing skill in promoting both Indonesia and his social media handles. Hoo is an Australian content creator who lives in Indonesia. As seen on Damian Hoo’s Instagram page, he has already created several videos promoting Indonesia’s tourism outside of Bali. He also promotes Indonesian foods from Medan and Manado. With sizeable followers on his Instagram and TikTok and also subscribers on Youtube he manages to reach both local Indonesians and foreign users around the world. He has 22k and 187 followers and also 100k subscribers respectively.
