Shaburi is where you go when you’re looking for an accessible shabu-shabu. As we mentioned in our Japanese restaurants in Jakarta, Shaburi serves great shabu-shabu at a reasonable price. They have different branches all around Jakarta but this time, we visited their restaurant at Central Park Mall.
The interior is simplistic, with the all-you-can-eat buffet displayed as we’re led to our table. Taking a brief look at the buffet table, they almost have everything you’d want in your shabu-shabu pot. There are vegetables, mushrooms, udon noodles, fish balls, sauces, and rice dishes that will surely heighten your shabu-shabu.
How it works is you’ll choose which all-you-can-eat set and you’re given 90 minutes to eat what you want. The server will bring your requested meat but for other condiments, you can pick as you please from the buffet. On weekdays, they have two set prices for lunch and dinner but at weekends, they only have one set menu.
We came on a Thursday night and ordered the premium shabu which is IDR 355,000 per person. This set includes 6 types of beef; Premium Beef, Shaburi Wagyu, Angus Beef, Beef Sausage, Tasty Beef, and Low Fat Beef. With an additional King Shrimp, Homemade Shrimp Fish Ball, Chicken Dumpling, Chicken Ball and Tender Chicken included.
Since I don’t really like spicy, I opted for the Toripaitan soup, which is a limited soup that’s said to include chicken collagen that’s good for your skin. The soup is quite basic, with a clear and thick chicken taste to it but I add some Japanese shoyu to make it saltier. I picked several condiments for my shabu-shabu like mushrooms, noodles, and fake crab meat or kani. The meat came pretty quick, which is perfect as I can make my shabu right away.
The meat is phenomenal, it’s thinly sliced and when mixed with their sesame sauce, it’s delicious and out of the ordinary. The best thing about all you can eat in Shaburi is that you don’t have to worry about how many calories you’re going to get, as essentially, it’s healthy since shabu-shabu is a boiled dish.
Their homemade chicken and fish meatballs are delicious and chewy, you can taste real chicken and fish in them really well! All of the meat is delicious but I preferred their thin-cut slices of beef as it’s much easier to chew rather than the thicker ones.
90 minutes is more than enough for an all-you-can-eat restaurant, you get full and satisfied to the point that I didn’t eat anything else until lunch tomorrow. They also have their little dessert corner which is self-serve soft-serve ice cream. They have three flavours, chocolate, vanilla, and mixed (chocolate and vanilla) with several ice cream toppings like tiny chocolate balls, sprinkles and cornflakes. The ice cream is the perfect dish to close your dining experience here.
Dining at Shaburi will always leave you satisfied. From the staff’s attentiveness and how quick they are to serve your meat; you won’t feel like you’re waiting even for a second with how fast they are. Plus, they’re there to remind you how much time you have left while you’re dining together. Overall, it’s a fun and satisfying experience but does remember not to order impulsively as you’ll be fined for the leftover meat that you left out.
