An Australian Tiktoker Booked a Lavish Villa in Bali Turns Out to Book an Entire Hotel

Jas, an Australian TikToker, claims that when planning her trip, she mistakenly reserved a whole hotel in Bali instead of just a charming villa. Jas claims she booked the property “a year in advance” at a discounted price.

The Aussie Tiktoker continued by saying the property’s owner was “frantic” and perplexed about how she managed to get it for such a low price.

Jas (@jxx), who describes her job on TikTok as a “social media manager,” told this story to her more than 211,000 followers on Tiktok in the video she published earlier this week.

“WHY DOES STUFF LIKE THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS TO ME LOL,” she said in the TikTok caption. As of Sunday, 23rd of July 2023, the video has over 2.7 million views and 282,000 likes.

A reporter’s request for comment from Jas and an Airbnb official was not immediately fulfilled.

The property Jas uploaded on her TikTok channel looks like this Bali residence with four bedrooms listed on Airbnb. The 4.8 review states it offers “a relaxing atmosphere as well as a real tropical experience.” According to the description, it can accommodate 11 guests and costs $538 each night.

Jas said she reserved the property “a year in advance” for a family vacation in the video. According to Jas, she let her grandparents choose the location, and they went with “the most expensive one” available.

Jas informed her followers that she expected problems before departing on her trip.

“I just know there’s going to be problems with this because, like, Bali increases their prices for everything every single year,” Jas said. She added she was concerned her reservation would be cancelled or doubled in price since she paid a lower rate.

Jas said she spoke with the property owner a week before her vacation and discovered that new management had been appointed. She claimed the proprietor informed her that the pricing, rooms, and amenities had all altered after her first reservation.

Since the hotel typically costs AUD 1,400 per night for its lowest rate, Jas claimed that the owner appeared bewildered and “frantic” over how she managed to secure such a low price.

Jas reported to her followers that the owner appeared in good spirits towards the end of their talk and declared he would “take an L on this.”

Jas said the first “red flag” she noticed was on the way to the villa when she realised the property was labelled a “hostel” on Google Maps. She was also confused when she saw a “till,” or cash register, in the kitchen. Jas said the owner told her more guests would join since she booked “a special rate.”

Jas objected to the owner. “I just booked it. No one explained that there were going to be other people staying here,” she said in the video.

“‘I understand I can’t use all the bedrooms. That’s fine,’ but I was like, ‘There’s no way I’m staying here with my family if other people are going to be staying here,'” Jas continued, recounting her conversation with the owner.

“It’s a huge fucking villa but a small hotel,” she added. The Aussie Tiktoker said the owner understood her concern and cancelled the other guests’ reservations.

The Aussie Tiktoker said her family’s trip cost EUR 4,100, about AUD 5,270.
