Jakarta, Indonesia – A total of 19 local neighborhoods (Rukun Tetangga/RT) in Jakarta were submerged due to overflowing rivers and heavy rainfall on Saturday, 4th November 2023. According to Isnawa Adji, the Head of the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Jakarta Selatan (South Jakarta) was the hardest hit, with nine RT affected.
“The areas impacted include two RTs in Cilandak Timur, two RTs in Kuningan Barat, two RTs in Lenteng Agung, one RT in Cipedak, one RT in Cilandak Barat, and one RT in Rawajati,” stated Isnawa on Sunday (05/11/23).
In Jakarta Timur (East Jakarta), seven flood points were reported, covering Cililtan, Cawang, Bidara Cina, and Kampung Melayu. Jakarta Barat (West Jakarta) also reported three affected RTs, with two in Sukabumi Selatan and one in Sukabumi Utara.

Isnwana Adji, the Head of Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency, reported that RT 006 and RT 013 in RW 05, Kuningan Barat, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, were flooded due to heavy rain on Saturday (04/11) night at 21:40 WIB.
“RT 006/05 had a water level of 70 centimeters. RT 013/05 had a water level of 50 centimeters,” Isnawa stated in his official release.
Additionally, Isnawa mentioned that Pondok Karya Street, RW 004, Pela Mampang, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, was flooded with water levels ranging from 10 to 30 centimeters due to rising water at Bendung Katumpala, Bogor. Towards Jakarta Depok, water also flooded Timbul Street, Jagakarsa at 20:00 WIB.
Furthermore, the chairman of BPBD confirmed a level three alert in Bendung Katulampa Bogor, Pos Depok, Pos Pesanggrahan, Pos Angke Hulu, and Pos Cipinang Hulu due to heavy rain on Saturday night at 21:00 WIB.
Floods in Sesko AL Ciledug, South Jakarta
Heavy rainfall since Saturday afternoon also flooded Ciledug Raya Street in front of Sesko AL Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, with water levels reaching 50 cm.
As a result, traffic from Cipulir towards Pasar Kebayoran Lama and vice versa experienced congestion due to impassable roads.
Kramat Jati Area Floods Cause Vehicle Breakdowns
Intense rain on Saturday (04/11/2023) night caused flooding in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, leading to several motorbikes breaking down.
According to @jktinfo’s account, several motorbike riders attempted to navigate the flooded areas in Kramat Jati on Saturday night around 22:59 WIB. One of the riders who uploaded a video confirmed the motorbike breakdowns and even a fallen tree on Kramat Jati Street.
Public Transport Facilities Inundated: Floods at Palmerah Station and Leaking LRT Halim
Due to heavy rain last night, a viral video shows floods submerged the underpass at Bojong Gede Station, Bogor. The area around Palmerah Jakarta Barat Commuter Line Station was also reportedly flooded.
Moreover, a viral video showed severe leaks at the LRT Halim Station, East Jakarta, on Saturday night (04/11). The station, inaugurated less than a year ago, experienced water pouring in from the station’s ceiling.
