Bali Nightclub Incident: Australian Man Brutally Attacked by A Gang of New Zealanders

Tourists engaged in a fight at a Bali nightclub on Friday, 24 November 2023, involving Australian tourists and a group of foreigners suspected to be from New Zealand. The victim, identified as an Australian man with the initials MS (27 years old), sustained serious injuries in a violent assault.

At 2 AM local time, a gang from New Zealand, identified as the perpetrators, waited for the victim to get out of the Bali nightclub and subjected him to severe physical assault.

Based on accounts from several eyewitnesses present at the scene, the incident unfolded as MS, the victim, was enjoying the nightlife in the Legian area at a Bali nightclub with friends. Upon entering the dance floor and dancing with a woman, her brother pushed MS suddenly without any obvious reason.

Subsequently, the assailants and their group exited the club and awaited the victim and his friend outside. They subjected the victim to a brutal beating, resulting in extensive injuries across his body and severe bleeding from his head. The outside area was stained with blood, prompting immediate transport of the victim to the nearest hospital.

Numerous foreign tourists attempted to intervene in the altercation at a Bali nightclub, but the perpetrator and his gang proved significantly stronger and more aggressive. According to 9News Australia, MS underwent a medical procedure requiring 10 stitches and sustained severe injuries to the eyes, jaw, and head.

Originally in Bali for a holiday, MS had plans to attend his brother’s wedding on Wednesday (29/11/2023). However, due to this incident, he lost several valuables including his phone, passport, cash, and various other items. He had to delay his return to Australia to attend to his paperwork matters in Bali.

The Denpasar police are presently managing the assault incident at the Bali Nightclub. As stated by the Head of the Public Relations Section, AKP I Ketut Sukandi, authorities have apprehended the primary perpetrator identified as SDL, a 22-year-old from New Zealand, and are conducting a thorough investigation. Meanwhile, efforts to locate and apprehend several other perpetrators who remain at large are ongoing.
