In 2025, the Bali government will officially commence restoration work at Tanah Lot Temple, addressing over 30 years of damage from seawater. I Putu Toni Wirawan, the Secretary of the Tanah Lot Tourism Destination, explained that the restoration will proceed gradually, considering the tidal conditions to ensure optimal working conditions for the project workers.

As a prominent cultural heritage site in Bali, Tanah Lot Temple stands among the most frequented tourist destinations. Tourism managers’ data indicates a visitation of 1,321,000 people throughout 2023.

A budget of IDR 11 billion has been allocated for the Tanah Lot Temple restoration, commencing with minor reconstruction in 2024. The aim is to achieve complete restoration by early 2027.

The last restoration of Tanah Lot occurred in 1995, making next year the opportune time to prevent further deterioration of this tourist area. Additionally, this restoration effort will focus on enhancing facilities to ensure tourists enjoy greater comfort when visiting these attractions.

The plan for 2024 involves the contractor constructing and assembling the elements, facilitating the full installation by 2025. The temple’s position remains unchanged and won’t be expanded, albeit with some slight shifts; however, tourists will still enjoy the stunning beauty of Tanah Lot Temple.

Concurrently, Tanah Lot’s tourism managers have announced an increase in entrance ticket prices starting in 2024. Foreign tourists will be charged IDR 75,000 (adults) and IDR 40,000 (children), while local tourists will pay IDR 30,000 (adults) and IDR 20,000 (children) for entrance tickets.
