As stated by I Gusti Lanang Muliarta, Head of the Pura Agung Besakih Area Facilities Management Agency, this decision stems from various studies conducted over the past year. In 2023, domestic tourists were charged IDR 50,000 for entry, whereas foreign tourists paid IDR 90,000. Gusti Lanang further mentioned that Besakih Temple had disseminated information regarding the revised entrance ticket prices to travel agencies and through social media platforms.

As per the Besakih Temple tourism manager’s data, the site consistently welcomes a daily influx of tourists, ranging between 700 to 1,000 visitors. The expectation for 2024 is to witness a surge in visits to Besakih Temple, complemented by enhancements to its existing facilities.

The accumulated income from Besakih Temple visits in 2023, spanning from April to December, amounted to IDR 14 billion, and it’s anticipated to experience a rise in 2024. The escalating number of visitors prompts intensified security measures at the entrance via the Manik Mas route. The comprehensive tourism management encompasses multiple stakeholders, including pecalang (local Balinese guards), security personnel, staff, and CCTV surveillance.

Moreover, several other tourist destinations, including Taman Tirta Gangga, Tanah Lot, and Ujung Soekasada Water Palace, are also slated to elevate their entrance ticket prices in 2024.
