An American Tourist Caught on Camera Assaults Bali’s Villa Security Guard, Resulting in Broken Teeth

Share:

A security camera captured an American tourist assaulting a security guard at a villa in the Gianyar area of Bali. This incident took place on Wednesday, 24th January 2024, around 8 AM local time. The tourist, identified as Olson MC, attacked Dewa Nyoman Widiada, causing injuries and breaking the security guard’s teeth.

According to the chronology provided by the Gianyar Police, AKBP I Ketut Wijaya, the American tourist intended to place a bag in the rear car’s trunk. Shortly, the villa’s security guard intervened and obstructed his actions.

The video footage reveals a conversation between the two individuals, culminating in Olson abruptly and indiscriminately attacking the security guard. Olson’s companion, who was nearby, promptly attempted to intervene and halt the assault.

The primary reason for the security guard’s intervention against Olson was the villa’s refusal to allow them to check out due to unresolved issues. It was revealed that Olson had not returned a borrowed motorcycle from the rental agency, as he had been involved in an accident.

Consequently, the villa found it necessary to detain Olson to address this outstanding matter. Following the altercation with the villa’s security, the two American tourists hastily fled using the rented car.

As the victim in this situation, Dewa Nyoman, employed as a security guard, reported the incident to the police. Interestingly, Olson has also filed a report with the United States Consulate General, asserting that he felt intimidated by the villa management, which led to his confrontation with the security guard.

Immediately refuting these allegations, Putu Darma, the owner of Villa, stressed that the actual issue stemmed from Olson’s failure to adhere to the original agreement regarding the return of the borrowed motorbike.

It was disclosed that Olson and his companion had initially rented a motorbike from the villa, which was never returned as per the agreement. When the security guard inquired about the whereabouts of the motorbike, he was assaulted by the American tourist.
