South Korea Launches Direct Flights to Bali and Jakarta

South Korea is set to bring a new level of convenience to travel enthusiasts with the launch of direct flight routes from Busan to Jakarta and Bali. This move will significantly reduce travel time and make exploring these vibrant Indonesian cities a breeze.

According to Korea JoongAng Daily, two airlines, Air Busan and Jin Air, will serve this direct flight route.

With Air Busan ready to operate flights on the Busan-Bali route four times weekly and the Busan-Jakarta direct flight available seven times a week, including four times with Jin Air and three times with Air Busan, travelers can rest assured that there are plenty of options to suit their schedules.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno responded to the plan to open direct flight routes connecting South Korea and Indonesia, specifically Busan-Bali and Busan-Jakarta.

“Hopefully, it can be operated soon because we want more connectivity that connects Jakarta as an entry point for foreign tourists,” Sandiaga said, as Kompas reported.

He added that his party wants to focus on the arrival of foreign tourists, especially from South Korea to the country.

Additional Direct Routes from South Korea to Major Cities in Indonesia

Previously, South Korea and Indonesia reached a significant agreement to allow airlines to operate flights freely between regional airports, a move that promotes bilateral tourism and economic cooperation. The South Korean Ministry of Transportation announced this on Friday, February 2, 2024, marking a new era in air travel between the two countries.

Under the agreement, airlines can now freely operate flights between airports in six cities in South Korea: Busan, Daegu, Cheongju, Jeju, Muan, and Yangyang. As well as Batam, Manado, Lombok, Yogyakarta, Balikpapan and Kertajati in Indonesia.

Both South Korea and Indonesia are set to reap the benefits of their mutual agreement. The establishment of two new flight routes between Incheon in South Korea and Batam and Manado in Indonesia, along with two routes connecting regional cities in South Korea to Jakarta and Bali, will foster stronger ties and boost tourism between the two nations.

They also agreed to allow airlines from both countries to enter code-sharing deals involving flights to Indonesia’s popular tourist destination, Bali.
