Online motorcycle driver, aka Ojek Online, are currently the preferred means of transportation for the community and even domestic and international tourists in Bali.

Even the green jacket typical of ojek drivers has become a fashion item that many foreign tourists buy. The number of foreign tourists who use this online motorcycle driver service proves that their presence is essential.

Due to their frequent interactions with foreign tourists, ojek online drivers often develop a quick rapport. This unique cultural exchange is not only fascinating but also heartwarming. It’s no wonder that they often find themselves featured in various videos made by foreign tourists while on vacation in Bali.

A viral video on TikTok raised this familiarity. In the account @blaze_angel, it is shown that when she arrived in Bali one day, many online motorcycle taxi drivers greeted her, so she used their services.

However, the video took an unexpected turn. After a week in Bali, the foreign tourist found herself in the role of an online motorcycle taxi driver, complete with all the attributes. This amusing twist in the video entertained many TikTok users and sparked many comments.

Online motorcycle taxi drivers in Bali are quite different from drivers in other regions of Indonesia. The Bali Tourism Office asks online transportation drivers in Bali to have a characteristic or differentiator from online drivers in other areas.

The reason is, online motorcycle taxis such as Grab are one of the means of transportation that is widely used by domestic and foreign tourists.

As reported by Viva.co.id, the Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, said online drivers in Bali should not only be able to drive a vehicle but also have a ‘tourism conscious’ spirit.

This means they should be knowledgeable about Bali’s tourist attractions, local customs, and be able to provide recommendations to tourists.

“They need to understand how to maintain and manage Bali as a tourist destination so that tourists feel at home and comfortable when they are in Bali,” said Tjok Bagus.

In addition, online motorcycle driver in Bali must have foreign language skills. This is because most users of online transportation in Bali are foreigners. “Therefore, the ability to speak foreign languages is an absolute thing,” he explained.
