MotoGP Stars Jorge Martin and Pedro Acosta Compete in Unique ‘Cantol Kawat’ Challenge

The 2024 Mandalika MotoGP has ended, and Pramac Ducati rider Jorge Martin came out as the winner. In addition to Martin, Pedro Acosta (GasGas Tech3), who finished second, also performed well, so both of them received praise after appearing at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Even though the race is over, stories about MotoGP riders in Indonesia continue to arrive. Recently, the @redbullindo account uploaded a video of Martin and Acosta doing a typical match in Lombok, Indonesia.

In the video, Martin and Acosta play a game of ‘cantol kawat’, where they wear hats with hooks and have to put the hook onto a wire hanging above their heads.

To add to the excitement, they had to spin around before hooking the wire hat.

Unexpectedly, Martin won 3-0 against Acosta.

This game is quite popular in Indonesia and is usually played in August 17 competitions. The behaviour of the two MotoGP riders doing this local Indonesian game is certainly entertaining.

In addition, Martin and Acosta made the typical bird sound, “Cukurukuk… Kukruuwww,” which adds a local feel to the background.

As the video uploader, Red Bull Indonesia added a funny caption: “When else will you see abang becak @89jorgemartin & @37pedroacosta + Warung sayur + Cukurukuk … Kukruuwww”.

Compete in Motorized Rickshaw Race

This ‘cantol kawat’ challenge is apparently not the first time Martin and Acosta have had fun in a unique race in Indonesia. Previously, they had also raced on motorized rickshaws.

In this motorized rickshaw race, the riders will compete to pick up ingredients from small stalls and give them to the chef to serve plecing kangkung, a speciality of Lombok Island. They compete for a plate of delicious plecing kangkung, while enjoying the beautiful natural scenery in Mandalika.

The motorized rickshaw race event will be featured across multiple platforms, bringing exciting moments from Mandalika to fans worldwide.

The riders will share their experiences, showing a different side of themselves when not on the bike while having fun in the spirit of Red Bull.

“It will be a dramatic (tricycle) race. Normally, I like these types of races and challenges. I would never take anyone off the track, but this one, I will,” Acosta said.
