Indonesian national team goalkeeper Maarten Paes and his girlfriend Luna Bijl were in Bali for about ten days after the goalkeeper defended the Garuda squad in two 2026 World Cup Qualifying matches in Jakarta on November 15 and 19.
During their time in Bali, Maarten and Luna relaxed, with little to do, as they wanted to rest while enjoying a beautiful stay at a luxury resort on the Island of the Gods.
“After 10 days, the vacation is finally over. Like it’s hard to leave Bali,” Paes wrote on his Instastrory.
Her boyfriend also feels at home in Bali. However, they can’t stay on vacation for long due to work demands.
“It feels so hard to part with Bali,” Luna wrote in Threads.
Funnily enough, Maaryen Paes and Luna Bijl’s fairly long vacation time made netizens question the costs they spent.
Moreover, it is known that Maarten Paes and Luna Bijl stayed at Amankila, a 5-star luxury hotel in the Karangasem area of Bali.
“I see a lot of money bang Paes, don’t go home from Amankila,” a netizen on TikTok wrote.
Apart from staying at a mewat resort in the Karangasem area, Paes and Luna also travelled to Ubud. The two couples also enjoyed a Kecak dance at the resort.
They were escorted in the car to Ubud. Understandably, the streets of Bali are jammed if you travel by four-wheeled vehicles.
In addition, Maarten Paes and Luna met Erick Thohir and his wife, who happened to have an agenda in Bali.
Eating Regional Balinese Food
In a video uploaded to his TikTok account, Maarten Paes shows off the moment he and his lover enjoy breakfast at Amankila, Bali.
The food and drinks that they will eat are already presented to them. However, one dish, chicken porridge, managed to attract the attention of netizens.
However, the way Luna Bijl ate the chicken porridge managed to make netizens the focus. The reason is that Luna eats it only with a fork.

These two people tried a variety of other Indonesian archipelago foods, including porridge. They were also seen enjoying meatballs at the hotel where they were staying.
Seeing his lover scooping meatballs, Maarten Paes was curious about his lover’s reaction when trying the country’s food.
“I’m curious what you think about this,” said the Dutch goalkeeper.
Luna Bijl seemed to really enjoy the meatballs. He looked serious, chewing and absorbing the taste of the meatballs. Not long after, this international model immediately reacted.
According to him, the meatballs he ate at one of the hotels in Bali were very good. In fact, Luna Bijl dared to give perfect scores.
“10 out of 10,” said Luna.
Luna seems very fascinated and has difficulty forgetting the taste of traditional Indonesian food.
In a TikTok question-and-answer session, Luna revealed her inability to forget dadar gulung.
When asked about the food she had tried, she said, “I’m still dreaming of dadar gulung. ”
Luna also expressed her admiration for the hospitality of the Indonesian people. She felt their kindness even while on the plane. “I was very grateful to feel the friendliness and kindness of Indonesians even until we left,” Luna wrote in her Instagram story.
Meeting with the chairman of PSSI
PSSI (Indonesian Football Association) Chairman Erick Thohir uploaded a photo with his wife and Indonesian national team goalkeeper Maarten Paes, who was vacationing in Bali with his girlfriend.
Erick showed off a photo while in Bali with Paes. The goalkeeper, who has played for Indonesia in six matches in the third phase of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, is vacationing on the Island of the Gods.
The post received attention from Indonesian soccer fans. More than an hour after being displayed, it had more than hundreds of thousands of likes.
Even though he is in Bali, Maarten Paes will certainly not attend the Indonesian national team training camp on the Island of the Gods, which will be held from November 26 to December 5, 2024.
The Indonesian national team will make preparations before taking part in the 2024 AFF Cup from December 8, 2024, to January 5, 2025.
