Euromonitor International released its Top 100 City Destinations 2024 list. Paris, France, came out on top. The City of Love is again the dominant city destination in 2024, mainly due to tourist visits triggered by various sporting events organised throughout the year, including the Summer Olympics.
The capital of Bali province came in at 94th, just below Mecca, but far behind fellow Southeast Asia neighbours Singapore and Bangkok.
Paris was named the world’s best city destination for the fourth consecutive year in Euromonitor International’s Top 100 City Destinations Index, released on December 3, 2024. The index ranks cities worldwide based on a comparison of 55 metrics across six key pillars: economic and business performance, tourism performance, tourism infrastructure, tourism policy and attractiveness, health and safety, and sustainability.
Euromonitor is an International company that leads the world in data analytics and research into markets, industries, economies, and consumers.
The 2024 report also revealed that global international arrivals increased by 19%, driven by strong tourism demand. Of all continents, Europe is the most popular region for travellers, reaching 793 million international visitors a year.
Euromonitor International ranked the cities based on an analysis of economic and business performance, tourism performance, tourism infrastructure, tourism policies and attractions, health and safety, and sustainability.

Denpasar, the Least Unemployed City
At the same time, Denpasar also received the title of the least unemployed city in Indonesia. As reported by GoodStats, Denpasar recorded an unemployed labour force of 2.11%, the lowest compared to other cities in Indonesia.
Strategic sectors such as tourism and services, which are recovering after the pandemic, are the foundation of this strong labour absorption.
The Bali Provincial Statistics Agency also released a report on the decline in the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2024 with a figure of 1.79 per cent. This figure dropped significantly compared to the TPT in August 2023, which was recorded at 2.69%.
