Authorities Investigate Bali New Year’s Party of Drugs and Debauchery

The Bali National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) dismantled a sex and drug party held by dozens of foreign tourist. The Bali New Year party was originally under the guise of Christmas and New Year celebrations.

On Saturday, December 21, 2024, members of the Bali Provincial BNNP (BNNP) raided dozens of foreigners in a Canggu villa in Badung Regency, Bali. The foreigners allegedly held a sex and drug party at the villa. From the raid, 8 foreigners were positive about drugs.

“We found allegations of residual sex parties carried out by dozens of foreigners in that place,” said Bali BNNP Head Brigadier General Rudy Ahmad Sudrajat in a press release to the media in Indonesia.

Authorities carried out a raid at a villa in Canggu, Bali. From the raid, approximately 50 foreigners were caught.

Nine of the 50 foreign nationals at the location were secured, while authorities detained only two.

Head of Eradication of BNNP Bali Commissioner I Made Sinar Subawa explained that of the nine people examined, tests showed one did not use drugs, while tests revealed one was positive for THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the active substance in marijuana.

“There are two who we detained. One is not showed to be using drugs. The other one tested positive for THC,” Sinar said.

Apart from the eight foreigners, there were 11 people who were caught and tested for urine. They were raided by several nightspots. As a result, five of them tested positive for narcotics K2, Benzo, and THC.

Bali Tourism Office to review villa licenses

The Bali Tourism Office opened its voice regarding the BNN raid that found dozens of foreign nationals having a sex and drug Bali’s New Year party in Canggu, Badung, Bali, last weekend. Dispar regrets and will review the licensing of villas in Bali.

“I certainly regret that there is another incident like this,” said the Head of the Bali Tourism Office, Tjokorda Bagus Pemayun, as quoted by Detik.

He said his party would coordinate with relevant agencies to prevent similar incidents, especially through a review of villa operational licenses.

“Whether or not this villa business is legal, that’s why a moratorium is very important, so that we can carry out monitoring. That way, similar incidents can be prevented,” he said.
