Flash floods and landslides hit the Puncak area of Bogor, West Java, on Sunday night, March 2, 2025. One of the hardest-hit areas was Kampung Pensiunan in Tugu Utara Village, Bogor Regency. The disaster was triggered by heavy rainfall across Bogor, Jakarta, and nearby areas, affecting at least 432 residents.
Bogor Flood: Widespread Damage and Emergency Response
According to ANTARA, heavy rain and strong winds caused severe flooding and landslides across 28 villages in 16 sub-districts of Bogor Regency. Homes were damaged, one person went missing, and major roads were impacted. The Bogor Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has launched an emergency response to assist affected residents and minimize further risks.
The downpour caused rivers to overflow, flooding residential areas in Cisarua Subdistrict and severing multiple bridges. One of the bridges on Jalan Hankam in Jogjogan Village, Cisarua, was completely cut off, disrupting daily activities. The floods also made travel on the Puncak Highway nearly impossible for motorists.
The Head of the Jakarta SAR Office, Desiana Kartika Bahari, confirmed that a resident named Asep (50), from Citeko, Cisarua, was reported missing. “The team is conducting a search,” Desiana stated on Sunday night. Several houses were also severely damaged by the floodwaters, and motorcycles were seen submerged. Reports indicated that some residents were trapped inside their homes and required immediate rescue efforts.
BPBD data as of 8 p.m. revealed that, in addition to flooding, landslides also struck 10 villages, while a fallen tree in Setu Village caused further disruptions.

Calls to Stop Land Conversion in Puncak
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has urged PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) to halt land conversion activities in the Puncak area. Following the floods, Dedi pointed out concerns about the overflow of the Jayanti River, calling it an unusual event. While he did not confirm the exact cause, he emphasized the need to stop land conversion.
“Our data shows that more than 1,000 hectares of tea plantation land have been converted, which could damage the ecosystem and increase disaster risks,” Dedi stated through his Instagram account, @dedimulyadi71. “I ask PTPN to stop all forms of land conversion in Puncak. Don’t focus only on economic interests.”
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as rescue and recovery efforts remain underway.
