A Viral Video Shows Motorcyclist Panicking, Trapped in TransJakarta Corridor, Unable to Move onto Road Divider

Share:

An unusual event unfolded on a Transjakarta Corridor on 29th February 2024. A video shared by @fakta.jakarta showed a motorcyclist stranded on the Busway lane, trying to escape by climbing over the barrier.

The video, captured by a bus driver, swiftly spread across social media, accumulating over 1.4 million views. Many netizens voiced their disapproval of the motorcyclist’s behaviour in the comments. Although such incidents are frequent in Jakarta, motorcyclists should exercise greater caution while navigating the streets.

Transjakarta often has to make temporary stops, which can significantly impact passengers heading to work. Violations by motorbike drivers in Transjakarta corridors, like the one depicted, are unfortunately common occurrences.

A similar incident took place on 9th August 2023. In that instance, a motorbike rider was reprimanded by a presumed TransJakarta employee for going against traffic flow and endangering other motorists. The video uploaded by @jakartainformation illustrates the motorbike rider’s breach of traffic regulations by crossing the Transjakarta route.

Despite extensive outreach efforts regarding the Transjakarta corridor’s proper usage, many drivers remain distracted and opt to use the busway lane to reach their destination faster. The Jakarta traffic police frequently conduct crackdowns on errant drivers who still dare to violate the Transjakarta corridor.

Unfortunately, incidents like these often result in significant impacts, including accidents and loss of life. The hope is that more individuals will become more vigilant and adhere to traffic regulations by refraining from passing through the Transjakarta corridor.
