2nd September 2022 – Australian man, Youssef Salim (53), was found dead in a hotel room at Jl Dewi Saraswati, Denpasar, Bali. The Head of the Denpasar Police Public Relations, Iptu Ketut Sukadi, said that the person died around 5:00 PM WITA on Wednesday (31/8).
It is suspected that the cause of his death is sickness. As his medicines were found inside his hotel room. Additionally, there are no signs of violence on his body.
The foreigner’s death was reported by the hotel’s management who found him lying dead on the bed with foam coming out of his mouth.
After an investigation done on the crime scene by Denpasar’s City Resort Police Indonesian Automatic Fingerprints Identification System (Inafis Polresta), a variety of medicine was found. Among those medicines are a bottle of Ferro-gradC, two strips of Sandoz, one strip of Xigduo XR 5/1000, one strip of Trajenta, a strip of Sirrivostaffin, a stripe of Amitriptyline, a strip of Aspirin, and one spray bottle for shortness of breath.
Based on Sukadi’s clarification, which came from investigations with the eyewitnesses, he was found dead after a guest named Ayman, a friend from Australia, visited his room. Ayman then asked the help of the hotel’s bellboy, I Komang Juniarta (20), who is the witness, to open room number 4239—which is where he was staying.
When eyewitness Juniarta opened the door, it was then discovered that he was dead. Upon witnessing the body, Juniarta then reported to the front office to report to the authorities. The eyewitness’ coworker then checks for a pulse however, the body has gone rigid. The General Manager of the hotel then was contacted to report the incident to the police.
The body was then evacuated at 6:30 PM WITA after investigation done by the Inafis Polresta at the crime scene. The evacuation was done by Denpasar’s Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to be brought to Prof Ngoerah Denpasar General Hospital. The police are currently coordinating with the victim’s family and the Australian Consulate about this matter.
