Bali has once again been hit by extreme weather, resulting in disasters across various areas. According to data compiled by the Bali Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), severe weather occurred at 18 locations across Bali in the past 24 hours, up until Saturday, 22nd March 2025.
Tabanan Regency was the worst-affected area, with 12 locations impacted, followed by Karangasem Regency with three, Badung Regency with one, and Denpasar City with two.
Heavy rain and strong winds have caused significant damage, including collapsed buildings and fallen trees, which have led to several fatalities.
As reported by Detiknews, BPBD recorded 144 incidents caused by heavy rain and strong winds that struck the Island of the Gods between 17th and 23rd March 2025. Four people lost their lives due to the extreme weather, with total losses amounting to Rp 1.9 billion.
“From these incidents, four people have died, three have been injured, and 53 buildings have been damaged. The estimated cost of the damage is Rp 1,938,500,” explained BPBD Bali Secretary, I Gede Agung Teja Bhusana Yadnya, on Sunday, 23rd March 2025.

The accident resulted in the mother’s death, while her son was rescued by local residents. The incident occurred as the two victims, who were from East Jakarta, were travelling along Jalan Raya Kuta in Kuta Subdistrict, Badung Regency, Bali, at approximately 12:15 pm.
They were on their way from their hotel to a restaurant and coffee shop for lunch when heavy rain and strong winds struck. Suddenly, a tree fell onto their car.
The mother, who was in the driver’s seat, was crushed, while her son, who was seated in the back, was left in shock and cried out for help.
Local residents rushed to the scene, breaking the car’s windows to rescue the child. He was then taken to a nearby house to be calmed down.
BMKG: Warning of Potential Extreme Weather in Bali from 22nd-25th March
The Centre for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region III Denpasar has warned that extreme weather is expected to continue in Bali until 25th March 2025. BMKG has stated that Cyclone Seed 92S is likely to affect weather conditions in Bali, potentially causing extreme weather between 22nd and 25th March 2025.
“There is a Cyclone Seed 92S in the Indian Ocean, south of Bali, which is supporting the development of convective clouds over the Bali region,” said BBMKG Region III Head, Cahyo Nugroho.
According to BBMKG Denpasar’s analysis, Bali’s weather from 22nd-25th March 2025 is expected to range from light to heavy rainfall, which may be accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
Additionally, wave heights in the southern waters of Bali are predicted to reach up to three metres.
