Starting February 14, 2024, the Bali government will implement a tourist tax for foreign visitors. Each foreign tourist will be required to pay $10 or IDR 150,000, applicable to both adults and children.
“They must apply by fulfilling the specified requirements through the Love Bali system,” explained Ida Ayu Indah Yustikarini, Head of Tourism Marketing at the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, as reported by Antara on Thursday (8/2/2024).
Below are 7 categories of foreign tourists exempt from the tourism tax:
- Diplomatic and official visa holders;
- Crew members involved in transportation or hauling equipment;
- Holders of temporary residence permit cards (KITAS) or permanent residence permit cards (KITAP);
- Visa holders for family reunification purposes;
- Students holding visas;
- Holders of Golden visas; and
- Individuals with other types of visas (business visa categories).

What’s Tourist Tax?
The tourist tax is a fee imposed on foreign visitors to Bali, as outlined in Bali Provincial Regulation Number 6 of 2023. This fee can be paid either directly upon arrival or through an application process at the arrival gate in Bali. The revenue generated from this tax will be allocated towards cultural and natural conservation efforts in Bali, supporting initiatives such as preserving customs, traditions, arts, culture, and other local wisdom.
How to Pay Your Tourist Tax
You don’t need to worry, you can pay the tourism tax when visiting Bali using an application called Love Bali or by visiting the website lovebali.baliprov.go.id. Here are the step-by-step instructions you can follow to pay the tourist tax:
- Download the Love Bali application or visit the website lovebali.baliprov.go.id.
- Input personal information including passport number, email, name, and date of arrival. Choose your preferred payment method.
- Receive a Levy Voucher via email.
- Present the Levy Voucher to the immigration officer upon arrival at the gate.
