The Brief History of Batu Karas

Once upon a time, there was a king named Katomas, who was married to Masimah. The king and his wife were travelling when they came across this coastal region. They discovered many hard rocks along the coast, which influenced the naming of the beach in Pangandaran. As a result, it was later dubbed Batu Karas Beach.

Furthermore, according to one of the villagers, the name Batu Karas is derived from the words “rock” and “karas,” both of which have a “hard rock” meaning. It can still be found on the coast today.

Location and Entrance Ticket

Batu Karas is close to Pangandaran Beach and the Green Canyon (Cukang Taneuh), one of Ciamis’ natural tourist attractions. The travel time by private vehicle from Pangandaran is approximately 45 minutes.

The entrance fee to Batu Karas Beach is relatively cheap. Simply pay a tourist admission fee of Rp. 6,000 per person. As for the collective admission fee, you can enjoy it at the following cost:

  • Motorcycles: Rp. 14,000 each
  • Personal cars: Rp. 37,500 each
  • Small to large minibus: Rp. 65,000 to Rp. 92,000
  • Small to large tourism bus: Rp. 126,000 to Rp. 310,000
  • Sliding board rentals: Rp.75,000 to 150,000
  • Food prices range from Rp. 12,000 to Rp. 120,000.
  • Resort: Rp. 100,000 to Rp. 250,000

The cost of admission for visitors to Batu Karas Beach is subject to change without prior notice. In the meantime, the aforementioned tolls are included in the costs of parking tourist vehicles there.

You also don’t have to be concerned about visiting hours because this beach is open 24 hours a day.
