IKN Nusantara is targeted to officially become the State Capital to replace Jakarta starting in 2024. This was after the issuance of a Presidential Decree (Keppres) regarding the transfer of the national capital to IKN Nusantara in East Kalimantan.

Head of the National Capital Authority (IKN), Bambang Susantono said that the Presidential Decree would be issued in 2024. In other words, Jakarta will no longer be the National Capital starting next year.

Bambang emphasized that even though the Presidential Decree on the transfer of the national capital was still quite long. However, his party has prepared the IKN so that in 2024 the new national capital is ready for livability.

“Even though the date is still 2024, we have to make preparations from now on, we have to think about the preparations for moving ASN, TNI/POLRI in several stages and even the administration of the government,” he said.

According to him, in the first half of 2024 when the President issues the Presidential Decree, public services will at least be able to run well. Therefore the preparation for the IKN must be prepared as early as possible.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is believed to be a bridge for the Indonesian Government to get investors to invest in the Indonesian National Capital (IKN).

This was conveyed by the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia, at the Mandiri Investment Forum at Plaza Mandiri, Jakarta, Thursday, 2nd February 2023.

“Tony Blair has good communication with the Government of Indonesia, especially with the President, Mr. Tony Blair will also help bring in investment in IKN,” said Bahlil.

As previously known, the Minister of Investment attended the 2023 world economic forum in Davos, Switzerland on Friday, 20th January 2023. On that occasion, Bahlil discussed with the former British Prime Minister.

During the meeting, Bahlil and Tony Blair discussed technical steps to accelerate investment, as well as investment potential in sectors other than IKN, such as the gas to food sectors.

“Yesterday I discussed the technical steps for accelerating investment and not only that but, we also communicated with potential investors in other sectors, gas and food, so not only in the narrow context of the IKN.

Previously, Tony Blair said that investor interest in IKN was expected to continue and he was ready to provide his support until it was realized. Collaborative support can also be provided through investments outside the Archipelago’s Capital.

“So indeed the interest of investors to enter Indonesia is very large sir. This is inseparable from the big role of the Minister in bringing investors to Indonesia with a positive signal,” concluded Tony Blair.
