The local coffee brand beloved by young people, Toko Kopi Tuku, has officially acquired the naming rights to the Cipete Raya MRT station, which is now called Cipete Raya Tuku.

This marks a fresh innovation in Jakarta’s transportation system. The Cipete Raya MRT station has officially been renamed Cipete Raya Tuku, a result of a strategic collaboration between MRT Jakarta and Toko Kopi Tuku, a local coffee brand that has gained immense popularity among Indonesian coffee enthusiasts.

Ahmad Pratomo, the Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), confirmed the news.

“This is a collaboration with Tuku. Tuku has purchased the naming rights for the Cipete Raya Station. The official change will be announced in the future,” Tomo explained.

As one of the most widely used modes of transportation in Jakarta, the MRT connects commuters and tourists from the suburbs to the city centre.

Moreover, construction of the MRT Phase 2, which will connect the HI Roundabout to the West Ancol area, is currently underway.

The addition of a brand’s name to MRT stations, which will appear prominently and frequently, ensures increased visibility. Of course, acquiring naming rights is not free.

This collaboration has quickly gone viral on social media, with many netizens commenting on the move, especially since Kopi Tuku first opened a shop in the Cipete Raya area.

Many people are also proud that a local coffee brand like Tuku has been able to compete with the MRT Jakarta’s big name.

For instance, the account @ProfMelankolis expressed their support, saying, “YEA TUKU U CHOSE THE RIGHT STATION FOR NAMING RIGHTS.”

History of Kopi Tuku

Toko Kopi Tuku, known for its slogan “Kopi Dari Tetangga” (“Coffee from the Neighbors”), has rapidly grown from a small outlet in Cipete to a brand with a loyal customer base across Indonesia.

By acquiring the naming rights, Tuku not only strengthens its brand identity but also underscores its support for modern public transportation.

This move has attracted significant attention, given that Kopi Tuku’s first shop opened in the Cipete Raya area in 2015, making it an iconic location for the local coffee brand.
