Denpasar City Government Refuses Sanur Beach Club: Doesn’t Fit Local Tourism Scene

Share:

Some time ago, a video circulated on social media that described the construction of a beach club in the Sanur area of Bali. However, some comments on the internet expressly rejected the construction.

Apparently, the rejection also occurred in the real world. The plan to build a beach club in the Sanur area continues to receive rejection and criticism.

The plan is considered out of line with the concept of developing the Sanur special economic zone, which is intended as a health and wellness tourism destination.

Deputy Mayor of Denpasar Bali I Kadek Agus Arya Wibawa stated that the local city government does not want beach clubs in the Sanur tourist area of Denpasar, because it fears that they will change the characteristics of tourism activity in the area.

“For beach clubs, until today, in principle, the mayor did give direction to be able to eliminate beach clubs in Sanur as soon as possible because it would change the DNA of the characteristics of tourism in the Sanur area,” Arya Wibawa said as reported by Antara.

Member of Indonesian Regional House of Representatives, Ni Luh Djelantik, also criticized the construction of beach clubs, which could disturb tranquility.

According to him, each regency in Bali has its own destinations or tourist attractions. Each tourist spot has its uniqueness.

Ni Luh Djelantik gave an example of the Sanur area. The streets and beaches in Sanur offer a calm and peaceful atmosphere, making it a favorite tourist attraction for parents or elderly tourists.

Indonesian Ministry of Tourism to Review

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno asked the beach club builder in Sanur to consider the area’s overall concept.

Because the location is close to Sanur, he asked the developer to build a beach club with a similar theme with the area.

According to Sandiaga, the beach club to be built in Sanur may have a different concept from the beach club that grew in Canggu.

To ensure its presence does not interfere with the theme of quality tourism, he has appointed Kemenparekraf Marketing Deputy Ni Made Ayu Marthini to supervise and coordinate with managers in Sanur.

“I see that Sanur is very suitable for healing tourism and must also be able to include all forms of facilities that are by local wisdom, culture-based tourism for quality and sustainable Bali,” Sandi told Liputan6, emphasizing the need for sustainable tourism in the area.
