Desa Adat to Implement Entrance Fee to Kuta Beach

7th September 2022 – The plan to implement an entrance fee to Kuta Beach by Desa Adat is now strengthened with the completion of coastal areas in December.

The Chief (Bendesa) of Kuta’s Desa Adat, I Wayan Wasista, said that after the rearrangement of Kuta Beach, the plan to implement an entrance fee will be applied. This idea has also been relayed to a number of agencies such as the Tourism Office, Badung’s Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR). Currently, the plan is still being thoroughly considered.

Currently, Kuta Desa Adat’s manager is starting to take into account the imposition of entrance fees ranging from IDR 5,000 to 15,000 per person. Based on the initial plan, IDR 5,000 is for children, IDR 10,000 is for domestic tourists, and IDR 15,000 is for foreign tourists.

Children under 4 years old are exempted from any entrance fee. This entrance fee is in collaboration with Badung District Government (Pemkab), and the tariff will be divided into 70 percent for the district government and 30 percent for Desa Adat.

Since Kuta Beach can be accessed anywhere, his part is considering having 6 entrance points in the area.

Even if Wasista has planned the entrance fee and communicated with the district government, making this into a realization is just waiting for approval.

“I hope that this plan to be realized. Because this rearrangement is also for the safety and comfort of tourists,” Wasista said.

The rearrangement includes providing carts for sellers, jogging tracks, and also payments will be integrated with the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) system. Sellers will be provided with carts that range from food, beverages, clothes, and souvenirs. There will also be massage counters later on too.

“The system is that tourists will come to shop, instead how it’s the merchants who offer to tourists. Therefore, after the rearrangement of Kuta Beach, everything will be changed for the convenience of both tourists and merchants alike,” Wisasta summarized.
