The decision to cancel international singer Dua Lipa’s concert in Jakarta on Saturday, November 9, 2024, left her fans deeply disappointed.

The promoters, PK Entertainment and TEM Presents, finally spoke up to explain the reasons behind the cancellation of the Radical Optimism Tour concert. In a statement released through their social media accounts, they emphasized that the safety factor of the stage structure prepared by Mata Elang Production was the main reason behind the decision.

“Even though Dua Lipa is ready to perform and the production team is working hard to overcome technical problems related to the stage structure from Mata Elang Production, we must ensure the safety of all parties involved,” wrote the promoter through a post on Instagram on Friday, November 8, 2024 evening.

The promoter also apologized for cancelling Dua Lipa’s concert in Jakarta. Viewers can access ticket refund information on the dualipainjakarta.com website.

Apart from the promoter, Dua Lipa also expressed her disappointment on her social media because the promoter had to cancel the concert in Jakarta tomorrow.

She wrote that the concert in Jakarta was one of the shows she was looking forward to, especially since this concert will be Dua Lipa’s first appearance in Indonesia again after several years.

“I’m sad to have to share that I can’t perform in Jakarta on Saturday,” she said.

“I’m sad to share that I can’t perform in Jakarta this Saturday, November 9. I’m here in your amazing country, ready to perform,” Lipa wrote.

She added, “However, I dare to share that it is unsafe to continue performing there due to stage safety concerns”.

Dua Lipa also informed the audience that they can access details regarding ticket refunds on the promoter’s official website. She also promised to return to greet Indonesian fans on another occasion.

“I love you all and really can’t wait to get back together in the same place with you to sing and dance as soon as possible,” wrote Dua Lipa, ending the statement.

Dua Lipa’s stage performance cancelled the concert in Jakarta

From Mataelang Production’s Instagram as the vendor responsible for the stage, everything related to the stage looks ready.

The stage is equipped with five large screens facing the audience. There is also a stage tongue, an area for Dua Lipa to sing and greet the audience.

The lighting has also been prepared. The last stage of the team will prepare musical instruments.

There is also a viral upload on X comparing Dua Lipa’s stage in Jakarta and Singapore. The upload shows that the stage in Jakarta is indeed smaller.

Many netizens commented that this difference might be why Dua Lipa’s management cancelled the concert in Jakarta.

  • Select “Request Your Fund” on the home page to fill out the refund form.
  • Filling in the invoice number/code and email holder name must match the data when purchasing tickets, including the name and bank account number.
  • The promoter or artist management is not responsible for transaction errors or failures caused by incorrect data provided by ticket buyers, such as invoice codes/numbers, email addresses, account numbers, and bank accounts.
  • Refunds will be transferred within 14 working days, by December 20, 2024.
  • The refund will be in the amount of the purchased ticket price, along with taxes and platform fees.
