Ed Sheeran Surprises Jakarta Fans with Vinyl Album Giveaway and Spontaneous Karaoke Session!

Prior to his concert on 2nd March 2024, Ed Sheeran surprised fans by taking a stroll around various spots in Jakarta, including Santa Market (locally known as Pasar Santa) in South Jakarta. A TikTok video uploaded by @ivana_ar captured Ed Sheeran carrying a cardboard box with a vinyl album while walking around Santa Market.  The video quickly went viral, garnering over 132,000 views. It’s reported that the singer distributed his album for free to fans he encountered during his walk.

On various social media platforms, fans shared their experiences of meeting Ed Sheeran at Santa Market and receiving signed vinyl albums of his album “Divide.” Additionally, Ed Sheeran surprised fans by appearing at a karaoke place in the Menteng area of Central Jakarta. A group of teenagers was singing Ed Sheeran’s song “Thinking Out Loud” when he suddenly joined them in the karaoke room and sang along.

The @nadskiw account captured this unforgettable moment and shared it on TikTok, where the karaoke video quickly gained popularity, amassing over 1.4 million views. Thousands of comments poured in from other fans expressing their envy of the lucky group.

In the 12-second clip, their astonishment upon unexpectedly encountering their idol singer is evident. Following this encounter, Ed Sheeran promptly delivered a vibrant concert at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), drawing over 50,000 spectators.

During the concert, he invited Calum Scott as the opening act, who performed “Lighthouse” and “Dancing on My Own.” The Mathematics Tour concert employed a 360-degree stage concept, allowing spectators from various ticket categories to enjoy the performance freely.
