Elon Musk has surprised the world by announcing his intention to transform the X platform into a dating app by 2024. He shared this vision during the celebration of Twitter’s rebranding to X in late October 2023. This revelation quickly sparked controversy among X users, as Musk’s plan involves integrating the application with digital banking services and dating apps simultaneously.
Elon’s vision is to expand X (formerly Twitter) into a versatile platform that serves various purposes beyond social media. As the new CEO of X, he frequently introduces unconventional and challenging rules, which can be difficult for users to embrace.
Elon’s biggest reason for transforming the X application into a dating platform stemmed from his concern about declining fertility rates in the future. He envisions that this change will help counter the current population decline.
In 2023, Elon introduced a series of controversial policies that received both support and criticism from users. One such policy involved charging $8 per month for accounts seeking the Verified badge, which granted users the ability to post longer tweets and upload videos up to 2GB in size.
Additionally, Elon Musk conducted a significant workforce reduction in mid-2023, resulting in the unilateral dismissal of over 80% of Twitter’s long-standing employees, including key figures like Parag Agrawal (CEO), Ned Segal (CFO), and Vijaya Gadde (Head of Policy).
In a matter of months, Elon Musk introduced new restrictions aimed at limiting the number of tweets user X could view on the platform’s timeline. For standard accounts, a daily limit of 500 tweets was imposed, while verified accounts were granted a higher quota of up to 1,000 tweets per day.
Elon also expressed his ambition to transform X, formerly known as Twitter, into a platform that could double as a job search tool, eliminating the need for separate job-seeking applications currently in use.
