The tourist, in a shocking display of recklessness, drove the stolen truck and collided with several motorcycles and cars at a traffic light at the intersection of Jalan Tangkuban Perahu, Bali.
In the video uploaded by the @balichannel account, it can be seen that the car driven by the Caucasian hit a number of motorists at the traffic light at the intersection.
In a display of community solidarity, a number of residents gave chase to the truck. The video also shows several cars and online motorcycle taxis joining the pursuit until the tourist crashed into the Bali Mandara Toll gate and stopped at the international departure gate of Ngurah Rai Airport.
Badung Police Public Relations Section Ipda I Putu Sukarma admitted that the truck carried by the foreign tourist was stolen.
The foreign tourist brought a truck with license plate number AB 8084 BC owned by Rahmawan Andrianto, which was parked in front of Timbul Mora Ceramic Shop, Bali, on Sunday, June 9, 2024.
At that time, the victim parked his vehicle because he wanted to sleep. The victim heard the vehicle engine start and woke up, then the perpetrator immediately hit the victim and kicked the victim out of the vehicle. At that time, the victim tried to get on the truck to grab the steering wheel but failed.
The perpetrator then drove the truck recklessly until it hit some vehicles. The truck was finally stopped after crashing into the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport portal.
“Furthermore, it was chased by Toll Road service officers and then secured at the International Departure Terminal by airport officials. As a result of the incident, the loss reached Rp 150 million,” Sukarma told CNN Indonesia.
Anthony, the tourist who robbed a truck in Bali, broke into I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport after carrying out his actions. He hit the toll gate bar and damaged the bollards or lights at the airport.
The foreigner then parked in front of the airport, then ran towards the departure lobby. Airport Security (Avsec) officers then arrested the foreigner.
“We are still calculating related to this (damage). We immediately repaired the damaged facilities,” said General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Handy Heryudhitiawan, Monday, June 10, 2024.
“We suffered some losses in damage to facilities but did not interfere with airport operations. (Operations) can still run normally,” Handy said to DetikBali.
