Foreigner in Bali Arrested for Receiving Liquid Marijuana

August 2, 2022 – Denpasar Police Drug Investigation Unit has arrested a foreigner from America with the initials JCP (47), who was involved in a drug case for receiving liquid marijuana.

JCP was arrested by the police when he received a packet containing narcotics-type liquid marijuana weighing 366,01 grams sent from Thailand to Bali.

Police Chief Denpasar AKBP Bambang Yugo Pamungkas said that the suspect was apprehended in his home at Jalan Made Bulet, North Kuta, Badung, Bali on July 2022.

Pamungkas said that the arrest of JCP started when the Customs officer found a suspicious package from Thailand. After investigation, it is revealed that the package contains one glass bottle and six syringes with liquid marijuana inside. This discovery was then reported to Police Narcotics Unit.

The police then conduct control delivery to the delivery address. The suspect is then apprehended when he receives the package from the courier service.

“Through the information, we got from the Customs, we do a controlled delivery of the package from Thailand and arrest the culprit,” said Pamungkas in Denpasar Police Headquarters on Wednesday (3/8).

The details of the evidence confiscated by the police are one glass bottle containing a yellow liquid containing 380 grams of marijuana, and six syringes containing a yellow liquid that contains 6,01 grams of marijuana.

The Police Chief said that, based on the suspect’s confession, he has received a package of marijuana twice from Thailand. The items are obtained by ordering through a website. Meanwhile, the purpose of the suspect’s possession of the marijuana is still under investigation.

“Whether the culprit has shared the marijuana with his acquaintances or not, we will investigate further regarding the network,” Pamungkas said.

JCP is charged with Article 112 paragraph (2), and 111 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. He might receive a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
