Jakarta appears to have no shortage of opportunities for art lovers to enjoy art in a variety of forms. If you enjoy digital art, this year’s Imagispace Jakarta may be an art exhibition you should not miss.

This year’s Imagispace Jakarta, located on the third floor of Plaza Senayan and carrying the theme ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ will take you to experience the beauty of works that represent a midsummer night. In this article, we will go over the themes, ticket prices, and rules that must be followed when visiting this exhibition.

An Overview of Imagispace Jakarta

Imagispace is a digital art exhibition with a sophisticated sensory experience. This exhibition debuted in Gandaria City in 2020, with the theme “The Universe of Us.”

Imagispace has exhibited 7 artwork themes in total, and 3 exhibition locations in Jakarta have been visited, namely Gandaria City, Ashta District 8 Senopati, and Plaza Senayan. Aside from Jakarta, the Imagispace exhibition has been held in several other Indonesian cities, including Bekasi, Makassar, and Samarinda.

A Closer Look to “Midsummer Night’s Dream” Exhibition

“Midsummer Night’s Dream” is the second exhibition from Imagispace Jakarta in 2023, continuing the success of the previous exhibition, “Soul, Ours, Intertwined” which was held from April to July this year.

There is a meaning behind this exhibition, it reads as follows: “Amidst the Indonesian Archipelago wonders, landscapes as diverse as the hues of a painter’s palette, each stroke tells a unique story of ecosystems thriving across the country. Transcending geographical confines to explore the natural wonders of Indonesia in the heart of Jakarta”

This exhibition occurs from August to December 2023. It is located on the third floor of Plaza Senayan, precisely on Jalan Asia Afrika Number 8, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta. From the entrance to Plaza Senayan, you can take the escalator or elevator to the third floor. When you arrive at the third floor near the escalator, take the road to the left until you meet the entrance to the Imagispace exhibition.

Rules and Regulations on Imagispace Jakarta

Before entering the Imagispace exhibition, there are plenty of rules and regulations that you have to follow to get a better experience while exploring the whole area. Here are some of them:

Wearing socks are mandatory

You must remove your shoes and wear socks indoors before entering the Imagispace installation area. Imagispace officers will hand you a tote bag to store visitors’ shoes or sandals before you enter the room. The goal of wearing socks in the installation area is to keep it clean and to make other visitors feel more comfortable.

No foods and beverages allowed

Food and drinks from outside are not permitted when visiting Imagispace Jakarta. You are also not permitted to consume food or beverages while in the installation room. Aside from that, objects that start fires and smelly objects are not permitted to enter the room. It is feared that these items will disturb or even endanger other visitors to this exhibition.

Be on time during your visiting session

Imagispace Jakarta will only give you one hour per session to explore the entire exhibition area, with one hour intervals between sessions. As a result, it is recommended that you arrive on time, preferably earlier than the time specified when you purchased the ticket. You will not be allowed to enter the exhibition area if you have the wrong schedule or are late for the session you chose.

Running inside the exhibition is strictly prohibited

When visiting Imagispace, it is recommended not to run around in the exhibition area. Visitors, particularly those who bring children, are asked to supervise them so that they do not run or kick while inside. The reason for this is that the installation room is entirely made of glass. It is feared that visitors will run into the installation glass if they are not careful.

Taking pictures using cell phones is recommended

You may use your mobile camera to take photos while indoors. Meanwhile, the use of professional cameras and photography aids such as tripods and selfie sticks is prohibited.

Although taking photos with a mobile camera is permitted, using the flash is strongly discouraged. Because the installation uses lights and the room is dark, it is feared that using a flash will damage the colour of the exhibition’s contents.
