Silmy Karim, the Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, expressed optimism that they could achieve the target of 1,000 foreign nationals receiving Indonesian Golden Visas by the end of 2024.

Silmy explained that the purpose of the Golden Visa is to provide additional benefits to Indonesia, especially in the economic field, for qualified foreigners.

“Alhamdulillah, this year’s target is 1,000 recipients, and hopefully, it can be achieved by the end of 2024. This is not a matter of large numbers because the Golden Visa is very exclusive and specific and must provide benefits to Indonesia,” said Silmy Karim when attending the event ‘Layanan Paspor Simpatik Gabungan Immigrasi’ in Central Java at De Tjolomadoe, Karanganyar, September 5, 2024, as reported from Viva.com.

Through this visa service, which President Joko Widodo officially launched on July 25, 2024, it is hoped that a sustainable ecosystem will grow in Indonesia.

One of Indonesia’s Golden Visa recipients is South Korean national team coach Shin Tae-Yong. “He got a Golden Visa because he contributed to the world of Indonesian football. His category is global talent,” said Silmy.

He also hopes that investment in Labuan Bajo will be an investment that is not only quality, but also opens business opportunities and employment for the people of Labuan Bajo and its surroundings.
