Indonesia New Sports Visa: 2023 Tourism Boost

Share:

Many top-tier sporting events, including the MotoGP and the FIFA U-20 World Cup, will be held in Indonesia in 2023. This surge in popularity has the ability to draw a significant number of foreign tourists. As a result, the Directorate General of Immigration will issue a sports visa to ease the entry of international supporters to use the momentum and boost tourism by issuing a sports visa.

“For example, if there is a sporting event taking place in Indonesia and they want to know the sort of visa, they can simply search for “sports visa,” said Director General of Immigration Silmy Karim on Sunday, 5th of March, 2023 at Gelora Bung Karno, Central Jakarta.

In Karim’s opinion, the introduction of the sports visa seeks to make immigration paperwork easier for international fans. Additionally, he said that supporters shouldn’t let bureaucracy delay them because doing so might prevent Indonesia from generating income from the tourism department.

With a “sports visa,” he promised to make things more convenient.

In March 2023, the Directorate General of Immigration will introduce several new permits, including a sports visa. According to Karim, some additional permits are being prepared by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights to simplify immigration procedures for visitors from other countries. He did not specify what types of permits would be issued, though.

Nevertheless, Karim announced that some new visas would be introduced in just 100 working days following the launch of this sports visa. His team is currently developing a system that will make it simple for users to register.

“We will introduce a number of new permits for foreigners starting this month and within 100 working days,” he said in conclusion.

After the pandemic storm hit the world in 2019, forcing everyone to stay home and minimise human contact as much as possible, tourism suffered the most. Indonesia suffers a significant loss as a country with so many tourist destinations that generate their income solely on tourist visits like Bali & Gili Islands suffer the most. Since the condition is starting to improve, the Indonesian government is trying their best to capitalise on the moment. One of them is issuing this sports visa hoping that more and more travellers will visit gorgeous Indonesia.
