Indonesia and Singapore are teaming up to bid for hosting the FIFA World Cup U-17 and U-20 in 2025. The Singapore Football Federation formalised this collaboration by signing a letter of intent with PSSI (Indonesian Football Federation) on 4 December 2023.

In the past, Indonesia successfully hosted the 2023 U-17 FIFA World Cup, held from 10 November to 2 December 2023, which saw the victory of the German U-17 National Football Team.

In early 2023, FIFA selected Indonesia to host the 2023 U-20 World Cup. Unfortunately, Indonesia missed out on this significant opportunity due to rejections from two Governors, Wayan Koster of Bali and Ganjar Pranowo of Central Java, citing concerns over the participation of the Israeli National Team in the competition.

On 6 June 2023, FIFA reappointed Indonesia as the host for the U17 World Cup scheduled for November-December 2023. This decision, made at the FIFA Council in Zurich, Switzerland, saw Indonesia replacing Peru, which had relinquished its hosting responsibilities.

Currently, FIFA has yet to finalise the host country for the U17 World Cup in 2025. According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, he is highly optimistic about collaborating between Indonesia and Singapore for the 2025 event. Dito also assured that Indonesian people do not worry about the participation of the Israeli National Team in the competition.

Following the successful hosting of the U17 World Cup in 2023, FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed positive prospects for Indonesia in organising international football events. Given this endorsement, Dito Ariotedjo holds strong confidence that Indonesia’s offerings can further expand, especially in conjunction with ongoing infrastructure development.
