Indonesian Women’s National Team Wins AFF 2024 Cup After Beating Cambodia

The Indonesian women’s national team made history with a 3-1 victory over Cambodia in the final match of the women’s AFF 2024 Cup. This victory was a historic moment for the Garuda Pertiwi Team, who lifted their first trophy at this prestigious event.

Reva Octaviani scored the goals for the Indonesian women’s national team in this match (19’ and 58’) and Sydney Hopper (35’).

In a thrilling match, the Indonesian Women’s National Team showed an outstanding performance by defeating Cambodia. Just two minutes after Cambodia’s first goal, Sydney Sari Hooper doubled the lead for Team Garuda Pertiwi. Utilising a cross from Sheva Imut on the left side, Hooper’s shot smoothly into the Cambodian goal, bringing the score to 2-1 before halftime.

Entering the second half, the Indonesian Women’s National Team continued to show their attacking spirit. In the 58th minute, Reva Octaviani increased the lead to 3-1 with a right-footed shot that the opposing goalkeeper could not expect. This advantage lasted until the end of the match, emphasising the dominance of the Garuda Pertiwi Team on the field.

In addition to winning the inaugural AFF Cup title, the Indonesian women’s national team also managed to add to its trophy collection by winning at the international level. This achievement shows the rapid development experienced by the Garuda Pertiwi team under the guidance of coach Satoru Mochizuki.

The 2024 Women’s AFF Cup is a qualifying event to take part in the 2025 ASEAN Women’s Championship. Eight countries plan to take part in the ASEAN Women Championship of 2025.

This victory means the Indonesian women’s national team will play three countries from the 2023 Women’s World Cup next year.

Since they are taking part in the ASEAN Women Championship 2025, the Indonesian women’s national team has the opportunity to face world-class teams. The teams in question are the Philippines, Australia and Vietnam.
