Share:

Starting from the 1st of March 2024, the Jakarta LRT will be adding 44 additional trips on weekdays, bringing the total to 308 trips per week. This enhancement marks a 16% increase in productivity compared to the previous period. Additionally, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has augmented the Jakarta LRT schedule on weekends by 20 trips, resulting in a total of 260 trips every weekend.

Mahendro Trang Bawono, the Public Relations Manager of Jabodebek LRT, stated that the supplementary schedule aims to enhance passenger service, aligning with the rising trend of passenger numbers. It’s worth noting that in December 2023, the Jabodetabek LRT served 1,029,686 passengers.

In January 2024, the number of passengers surged to 1,200,399, followed by a slight increase to 1,202,087 in February 2024. “KAI has observed a growth in Jabodebek LRT users since December last year, particularly on weekdays,” Mahendro informed journalists on Thursday (29/2/2024).

The escalating usage of the Jakarta LRT underscores its significance in facilitating community activities and its reliability. The uptick in Jakarta LRT ridership will significantly affect train headway times, which currently stand at 6 minutes and 12.5 minutes on the Harjamukti-Cawang and Jatimulya-Cawang routes.

Looking ahead, KAI aims to encourage greater reliance on public transportation over private vehicles to alleviate traffic congestion in Jakarta. By March 2024, the Jakarta LRT will cover a 5.8-kilometre track, serving 6 primary stations. Moreover, the fare for riding the Jakarta LRT is highly affordable, costing just IDR 5,000 per trip.

Jakarta LRT tickets can be obtained through Single Journey Trip (SJT) or various electronic cards, including e-money, flazz, Brizzi, Tap-Cash, Jakcard, and Jak Lingo. Below are the latest integration routes for the Jakarta LRT:

  • Pegangsaan Dua Station
  • North Boulevard Station
  • South Boulevard Station
  • Pulomas Station
  • Equestrian Station
  • Velodrome Station

Various other modes of public transportation, including the Transjakarta Bus, Mikrotrans, KRL Commuter line, and MRT, have been integrated at each LRT station.
