This time, they’re collaborating with the guest chefs from the award-winning CORIANDER LEAF in Chijmes, Singapore, promising an unforgettable culinary journey for those dining at Lobo & Juno this week.
A Pan-Asian Feast in the Heart of Jakarta
From August 30th to September 8th, 2024, Lobo & Juno Ritz Carlton is transforming into a haven of Pan-Asian delights, showcasing the best of Singaporean and broader Asian recipes. This collaboration is part of the ongoing “Kitchen Takeover” series, which has been tantalising taste buds since July 2024. Expect a diverse selection of Asian culinary traditions, ranging from Malay Peranakan and Thai to Vietnamese and even Pakistani influences.
The event kicked off with an introduction to the 33 new dishes brought to Jakarta by guest chefs Samia Ahad and Iskandar Latiff. A specially curated 15-course menu was presented to guests, offering a sneak peek of the culinary wonders available until September 8th.
A Culinary Melting Pot
Chef Samia, the owner of Coriander Leaf Singapore, shared her vision during the opening remarks: “With our experience, we adapt and bring the Asian gastronomic culture that unites everyone at the dining table, and this also influences the experience you will have when the food is presented later.”
The dishes served were a testament to authenticity, presented with a flair that captivated everyone in attendance. We were even treated to personalised guidance from the chefs and servers on the proper way to savour each creation.

Nestled within the iconic CHIJMES complex, Coriander Leaf offers a glimpse into the intimate and unique flavours of Asia. Chefs Samia Ahad and Iskander Latiff have curated a menu that distils traditions and reinterprets time-honoured classics, showcasing authentic Asian dishes and drinks that both indulge the senses and celebrate the diverse cultures of the continent.
Chef-owner Samia Ahad’s menu, featuring pork-free meats from halal sources, is a culinary tour of Asia. In collaboration with Chef Iskander Latiff, the food is now served in small plates designed for sharing.
The concise menu is divided into five categories – Fresh, Familiar, Spicy, Umami, and Sweet – each showcasing culinary influences from across Asia.
The Culinary Masterminds of Coriander Leaf: Chef Samia Ahad and Chef Iskandar Latif
Chef Samia Ahad
After swapping her business suit for a chef’s jacket in 1991, Samia earned a Blue Ribbon at New York’s prestigious Institute of Culinary Education. In 2001, she founded Coriander Leaf in Singapore, driven by her passion for sharing both traditional and modern Asian cuisine. She’s also a cookbook author, with her classic “Simply Samia” published in 2008. Today, she leads culinary team-building experiences and mentors her talented team.
Iskander Latiff
After honing his skills and knowledge of Asian food for a decade overseas, Iskander won Channel News Asia’s “The Perfect Meal” in 2010. He joined Coriander Leaf as Executive Chef in 2015, playing a hands-on role in refining and developing the restaurant’s menus. He’s also a familiar face on MediaCorp programs as a celebrity chef judge.
