Korean Tourist’s Glasses Snatched by a Monkey, Helper Demand Money in Return

The story of tourists versus monkeys in Bali is happening again. Monkeys in Bali are notorious for taking things from tourists. But this video went viral not because of the monkeys’ antics.

This time, it wasn’t the typical monkey mischief that caught everyone’s attention; it was the unexpected twist involving a helper who, instead of assisting, demanded money in return!

The experience was shared by a Korean tourist named Kelly on a TikTok account.

@kellykorea Dasar monyet nakal 🥲😫 tapi gapapa, i love bali 🇮🇩🫶 #bali #indonesia #kellykorea #koreangirl #visitbali #trip #tiktoktravel ♬ Funny video “Carmen Prelude” Arranging weakness(836530) – yo suzuki(akisai)

In the video, Kelly initially wanted to take a photo with a herd of monkeys in the area outside Uluwatu Temple, South Kuta, Badung. While posing, a monkey suddenly came and snatched his glasses. She panicked and asked the people around her to help.

Shortly after, a man who was thought to be a guard in the area managed to get the glasses back, but he asked Kelly for money in return. “Money, money,” the man said.

Kelly was surprised but asked how much money he should give. “Money? How much, how much?” asked Kelly.

Finally, Kelly gave IDR 20,000 while saying goodbye to the two men at the location.

Kelly took the incident in her stride. Despite the monkey’s mischievous act, she remained unfazed and expressed her love for Bali in the video caption.

She was just annoyed at the monkey who took her glasses. “You naughty monkey, but it’s okay, I love Bali,” she wrote in the video caption.

Although Kelly was not upset, her video was filled with comments from netizens who were not happy with the man’s behavior.

Many said the man’s actions were a scam and that monkeys in Bali are trained to take things from tourist.
