The presence of this skatepark facility will make Kuta a paradise for skaters because the beauty of Kuta Beach is the main attraction for skaters.

Skateboarding is a type of extreme sport favoured by young people in Indonesia, and Bali is no exception. To give passion to skaters in Bali, Kuta Beach Skatepark is also present amid the existence of the beauty of Kuta Beach, Badung.

Kuta Beach Skatepark is expected to be a special attraction for tourists. This is because the skatepark, which is next to the relocation site for art market traders, is the first skatepark location on the beach in Bali.

Chairman of LPM Kuta, Putu Adnyana said the presence of the skatepark would certainly be a new attraction for Kuta, which has so far been known more for its beaches and surfing. Moreover, he knows quite a lot about the skateboard community in Kuta and his party at Pesanku (Kuta Taruna Forces Association) has a skateboard sports unit that was founded in 2022.

Before the existence of this skateboard facility, the community in Kuta often borrowed places. “So my message is the Kuta Youth Force Association. So we will make all of that potential into one unit at the sub-district level. Because there are quite a lot of skateboarding fans and communities in Kuta, so we embrace it and we make it a unit in Pesanku in 2022,” said Adnyana.

According to him, so far the community and skateboard fans have used the sidewalk facilities on Kuta Beach to play skateboarding. Especially during a pandemic, which is quite quiet. However, as the tourism condition gradually recovered, these activities were regulated, so that they borrowed places in other areas. Along with the existence of this skatepark on Kuta Beach, they will be directed and embraced to channel this hobby into the space provided.

“So that this location can give birth to skateboarders, as well as a new attraction that can be a potential additional income for the village. Because of course the facility will be maintained and arranged in the future, and competitions will be held,” said Adnyana.
