A landslide occurred at the Tanah Barak cliff in Kutuh Village, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, on Monday, 6 January 2025, at 8:40 am.
South Kuta Police Chief, Kompol I Gusti Ngurah Yudistira, stated that the 20-metre-high cliff collapsed due to heavy rainfall in the area. Fortunately, there were no casualties. However, the landslide debris blocked the road, making it inaccessible to vehicles.
“There were no casualties, but the landslide was caused by heavy rainfall,” said Kompol Yudistira, as reported by Detiknews.

I Wayan Duartha, Chairman of the Planning and Development Board for the Pandawa Beach Tourism Area, said workers were deploying heavy equipment to clear the debris from the road.
The evacuation process should be finished by tomorrow, January 8, 2025. Duartha explained that tourists heading to Pandawa Beach could use alternative routes.
“We have assigned pecalang (local security) to guard the main access road to Tanah Barak,” he added.
He also assured that other attractions in the Pandawa area, such as Pandawa Beach and Timbis Beach, remain open to visitors.
Only the Tanah Barak tourist site is temporarily closed.

Recently, authorities introduced a new policy for visitors. Tourists are no longer allowed to use private vehicles to reach Tanah Barak.
This change aims to enhance the visitor experience by maintaining tranquillity and cleanliness in the area.
The entrance fee to Tanah Barak is IDR 8,000 for adults and IDR 3,000 for children. Parking costs IDR 2,000 for motorbikes and IDR 5,000 for cars.
