I could never find exactly what I wanted from the store, sometimes the fit was not right or the color combination wasn’t perfect and this made me to start designing my own clothing.
I also enjoy designing dresses and actually this is what keeps me motivated. How I started my brand was to fill a void in plus size department because I noticed there was not much creativity. I decided to offer my service and make everyone feel beautiful.
Tell us more about ATD!
ATD is all about standing out and being innovative, as a brand we thrive to create designs with purpose. The use of materials plays a huge role in sustainability and in improving people’s lives.
It is our main objective to add value to society through creativity and attention to detail.
What are the challenges of running a business in Jakarta?
Communication is a challenge sometimes when producing more complicated designs and also cultural aspects and color schemes may have different meanings depending on beliefs and affiliations.
So where do you see ATD in 10 years?
We are currently working towards having our own fashion house for in house production and for other brands as well. This will create more employment and skills development opportunities for the local community.
Do you have any business advice or a business mantra you live by?
Sharks are born swimming if they stop moving they die and what I learn from this is to never stop working. It’s easier to overcome challenges when working than it is when not doing anything.
