Following its closure during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Directorate General of Immigration will reopen the Multiple Entry Business Visa (MEBV) as of Tuesday, November 22, 2022.
The news was announced on Monday, November 21, 2022, by Deputy Director General of the Immigration Department Widodo Ekajajana, Jakarta.
“MEBV is being tested to support global businessmen, well-intentioned potential investors, and global billionaire immigrants with big capital to reopen with ease to travel to and from Indonesia. This proves that facilitating the migration of highly mobile businessmen will significantly impact Indonesia’s economic recovery,” said Ekatjahjana.
Ekatjahjana also explained that foreign businessmen applying for MEBV need a company or a guarantor from a company in Indonesia. Registration for MEBV is done by the sponsor online through visa-online.imigrasi.go.id or through Indonesian embassies abroad.
MEBV is a type of visa that allows foreigners to enter and exit Indonesia within one year. Foreigners entering Indonesia are issued a 60-day residence permit.
“For each foreigner applying for MEBV, there is a fee of IDR 3,000,000/person/year. Therefore, foreigners can travel to and from Indonesia without needing additional residence permits,” said Ekatjahjana.
He explained that MEBV cannot be used for work in Indonesia. Foreigners with MEBV can engage in other activities such as business talks, tours, government contracts, merchandise purchases, meetings, humanitarian reasons, and travel.
