First on our list is the Tanah Lot Temple. Located northwest of Kuta, it is one of the most iconic temples in Bali. Many people visit Tanah Lot for the magnificent view of the sunset, and while waiting, you can admire the scenic architecture of the temple located on the seashore.

This temple was built around the 16th century after a priest from the Majapahit kingdom, Dang Hyang Nirartha, got a vision that the coral reef at the seashore was a sacred place for a temple to be built. The temple was then built to worship the god of the sea, Dewa Baruna. One of the most famous temples in Bali is the Uluwatu temple, approximately one hour’s drive from Ngurah Rai airport. The temple is located on Bukit Peninsula, right on the island’s edge.

The temple is believed to originate from the megalithic from around the 10th century. It’s believed that the temple protects Bali from evil spirits from the sea. While the monkeys that you can see in the forest guard the temple from any bad influences. Be careful around the monkeys and keep your things away from them! It’s the most beautiful during sunset plus, you can watch Kecak dance performance here too.

Ubud Monkey Forest – Top Attractions

Talking about monkeys, you can visit one of the most popular forests in Ubud. Also known as the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, you can see the grey-tailed monkeys in their habitat. However, be careful; these monkeys are quick with their paws and will snatch your things away! So, make sure your things are stashed away safely in your bag.

There are a lot of precautions to be taken when you’re here, so make sure to heed the instructions carefully. Stay on the lane given, avoid eye contact or smiling at the monkeys (as they’ll interpret it as a form of aggression), don’t feed the monkeys, and watch your children while you’re here.  Other than seeing the monkeys, you can visit three Hindu temples in the forest: the Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal, Pura Beji and Pura Prajapati.

Tegallalang Rice Terraces – Scenic Attraction

Witness one of UNESCO World Heritage’s 9th-century irrigation systems, subak, in these rice terraces. Definitely, a must visit when you are planning a trip to Bali; here is one of the best places to see the view of the luscious green rice field that uses subak to this day.

If you love photography, this is one of the places of best spots on the island when you are visiting. You can also sit back in some shops while enjoying the view. Some locals will ask for donations when you’re there and some fees for entrance and parking along the road, too.

Sidemen Valley – Famous in Bali

Looking for someplace where you can have a relaxing stay in Bali? We recommend Sidemen Valley. Located at Karangasem Regency, northeast of Ubud, you can enjoy the happening places to visit and do various activities here. From water rafting at Telaga Waja River to taking pictures around the rice field with Mount Agung in the background to trying weaving with the locals.

A day is not enough to have fun here but rest assured, and several hotels provide facilities such as a spa and pools with a gorgeous view of the rice fields, mountains, and hills.

There are a lot of outdoor sightseeing spots in Bali to change the scenery for those who are used to metropolitan areas. Enjoy a day of relaxation with the fantastic view that Bali has to offer.
