The name “Onrust” is of Dutch origin and means “Unrest”. Nevertheless, other sources mention another possibility that it may have come from a Dutch nobleman named Baas Onrust Cornelis van der Walck, whose history of the island dates back to his 19th century.

It dates back to the century. Over time, it changed its function several times, from being an important shipyard for the Dutch East India Company (VOC), to a weather station, a sanatorium, a Hajj quarantine, and even a prison for notorious criminals. As a result, many traces of its long history remain on the island.

A 7-hectare island with an attractive coastline, Sepa Island is located 1.5 hours from Pier 19 at Marina Ancol. The boat leaves the island at 8:00 am and is scheduled to return at 2:00 pm.
