A Newlywed couple from Chennai, India, drowned on Friday, the 9th of June 2023, while on their honeymoon in Bali, only one week after their wedding. The Indian couple reportedly drowned while undertaking a photo session on a speedboat, according to the initial reports.

To return the remains, the families of the deceased have rushed to Bali. The drowned couple from India has been identified as Lokeshwaran and Vibushniya, who tied the knot on the 1st of June 2023 at Poonamallee. Vibushniya’s body was only discovered on Saturday, the 10th of June, in the early hours, while Lokeshwaran’s body was found within a few hours after.

According to early investigations, the Indian couple was meant to photograph a speed boat ride. Still, the boat overturned and dragged them into the water, which caused them to drown, and when the help came, it was already too late to help the couple from the water. As the investigation continues, the circumstances that caused the drowning tragedy of the Indian couple have not yet been made public.

The family has requested the Tamil Nadu government’s assistance to return the couple’s bodies to Chennai, India. According to reports, the family had contacted India’s Tamil Nadu and federal governments and asked for assistance through the Indian consulate in Indonesia.

According to Indian local media, the bodies of the Indian couple would be flown to Malaysia before being returned to Tamil Nadu because there are no direct flights between Indonesia and Chennai.

Bali police then remind all tourists to be conscious when being near the water or sailing a boat in the middle of the ocean since anything could happen, such as this unfortunate event to the newlywed couple from India when a romantic honeymoon turned into a nightmare.
