Australian Tourists Increases, Ngurah Rai Airport Add More Flights

Overall throughout 2022, Australian tourists still dominate the number of arrivals internationally in Bali. As many as 626,783 Australian citizens visited the island of Bali. 

“The addition of routes to and from Australia is a strong signal that the Island of the Gods is increasingly in demand because of Australian tourists. And we are very enthusiastic about adding the Australian route at the Bali airport,” said the General Manager of the Airport International I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali Handy Heryudhitiawan in Badung Regency.

Bali I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport added a new flight route to Bali with Australia, namely Melbourne-Denpasar-Melbourne, operated by the airline Batik Air. On the inaugural flight of the Batik Air aircraft with flight number BTK6004, it carried 141 people passengers from Melbourne to Denpasar. 

“We congratulate Batik Air on the operation of the newest Melbourne-Denpasar-Melbourne route. We hope this can be a driving force for the opening of other routes at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport by Batik Air,” he added

According to him, Australia is also the country with the most routes, with seven cities connected to the airport I Gusti Ngurah Rai. The seven routes to and from Australia are Adelaide, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, and Queensland.

He also mentioned that flights to the seven cities operate every day with an average of 19 flights per day. 

Handy Heryudhitiawan said currently Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has served 24 flight routes Internationally operated by 29 airlines with the most routes to and from Australia.

With the opening of a new flight route by the airline Batik Air, he hopes to encourage the opening of routes to other flights at Bali airport.

Ngurah Rai Airport has served 24 international flight routes to various cities in the world. The breakdown is Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin, and Adelaide from Australia.

There are also East Timor, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Penang in Malaysia, Manila in the Philippines, Bangkok in Thailand (Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang), Hong Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam, Taipei-Taiwan, Japan (Narita), South Korea (Incheon), United Arab Emirates Doha in Qatar, Istanbul in Turkey, Amsterdam in the Netherlands and Hong Kong.

There are 24 routes with 29 international airlines including AirAsia Berhad, Indonesia AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, Scoot Tigerair, Virgin Australia, Cebu Pacific, Jetstar Airways, Merino Air, Singapore Airlines, Philippine AirAsia, Citilink Indonesia, and more in service.
