A Russian tourist, Konstantin Bazrov, aged 33, was on a motorbike touring journey from Bali to Lake Toba, North Sumatra when he unfortunately became the victim of a motorcycle theft in Palembang, South Sumatra.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning, April 3, 2025, at a food stall located on Jalan DI Panjaitan, Tangga Takat Village, Seberang Ulu II District, Palembang.
According to the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Palembang Police, AKBP Andrie Setiawan, the victim reported the theft at the Palembang Police’s service desk.
Setiawan confirmed that the victim had been travelling from Bali to Lake Toba on a rented black Honda BeAT motorcycle, which was registered with the police number DK-5745-FDQ.
“It is true, we received a complaint from a Russian citizen who came to the Palembang Police SPKT to report the theft of his motorcycle last Thursday (3/4),” Setiawan said as reported by Detiknews.
Setiawan further explained that Konstantin had made a stopover in Palembang during his journey. “According to his confession, the victim was touring from Bali to Lake Toba. On his way, he stopped by Palembang,” he noted.
After arriving in Palembang, Konstantin chose to rest for the night and parked his motorcycle at the food stall, leaving the ignition key hanging on the bike. The Russian national went to sleep, but when he woke up at 5:41 AM, his motorcycle had vanished.
In addition to the stolen motorcycle, several of Konstantin’s personal belongings were also taken, including a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone unit, his wallet containing important documents, and a GoPro Hero 13 camera with a Max Lens 2.0 and a 256 GB memory card.
“Not only the motorcycle, but some of Konstantin’s valuables such as a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone unit and wallet along with his valuable letters were also lost. In addition, Konstantin’s GoPro Hero 13 camera set, Max Lens 2.0, and 256 GB memory card were also no longer in place,” Setiawan added.
Following the report, the police swiftly conducted a crime scene investigation.
“After receiving the report, the investigating picket team immediately conducted a crime scene investigation. Until now, we are still investigating,” Setiawan stated.
He also used the opportunity to remind travellers of the importance of safeguarding their belongings while on the road. “Important news for brothers to always take care of their belongings when travelling, including the motorbike used on the trip,” Setiawan concluded.
